Only Norwegian lets you visit four islands in seven days, which means you're on an island each and every day! Since we are the only cruise line that homeports in Hawaii, offering convenient year-round Saturday departures, you can vacation on your schedule. But once you hop the Hawaiian islands with Norwegian, it will become your thing.
Staterooms on the Pride of America
Dare I say that on island there is great significance to the passage of time (;-0). If any of this resonates with you, a longer stay in one island maybe a better choice. The reason we chose the road to Hana for day one of our two-day stop at Maui is that this tour takes all day.
Cruise Itinerary
Why cruise only to Hawaii when you could cruise to Hawaii, Tahiti, and Fiji? Holland America includes several Hawaiian stops on longer itineraries, including the 51-day Tales of the South Pacific and the 35-day Hawaii, Tahiti & Marquesas voyages. Each of those itineraries departs from and returns to San Diego, crosses the Equator and international dateline, and stops in Kiribati and French Polynesia. The thing about Hawaii cruises is that there’s no bad time of year to take one. Thanks to its year-round sunshine and warm weather, Hawaii will be there for you whenever you’re ready to set sail. As of early June, only Cagney's Steakhouse and Jefferson Bistro are open, along with complimentary dining venues Skyline Main Dining Room, Aloha Café, and Cadillac Diner.
Pride of America
There's always more to experience when you Cruise Like a Norwegian. Fortunately, there is a way to see the islands of Hawaii in a much more efficient and economical manner. Taking a seven-day cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line Pride of America is hands down the best method to see all the main attractions Hawaii has to offer in the most economical use of your time and money. Feel free to let the gentle breezes of Waikīkī stir up your Aloha spirit as you set out to explore the Hawaiian islands with Norwegian. Soak up the vibes as you sink your toes in a black-sand beach before your trek to the top of Haleakalā — Maui’s massive volcano. When the sun sets, get ready for unforgettable stargazing well past midnight.

The cruise features Freestyle cruising, which means that casual attire is appropriate for most of the cruise. If you'd rather dive into a snorkel adventure, two top catamaran excursions are the six-hour Molokini Crater & Turtle Snorkel ($249 per person) or the 8.5-hour Lanai Sail & Snorkel ($229). I did Molokini—an offshore crescent-shaped crater that's home to more than 250 species of tropical fish—on my first visit to Hawaii and enjoyed it. Some fellow passengers I spoke with on the recent cruise did Lanai and encountered lots of sea turtles and spinner dolphins. Our cruise fare with a balcony room, the beverage package, speciality dining package and some nominal credits totaled $4,768 for the two of us. The food and stateroom experience felt budget-level, but the cruise cost was far from being a budget price.
The ship’s plumbing seemed to be an issue occasionally. Sometimes we had issues flushing the toilet and once in the middle of the night, we didn’t have any water at all. Pride of America has Japanese, Spanish and German translators on staff. Translation services --including the translations of the ship's "Freestyle Daily" schedule -- are available with advance request. Several bars were completely overhauled, private cabanas were added to Deck 14, the suites were refurbished and the spa was upgraded.
For example, there’s a Gold Rush Saloon, decorated in a rustic, old west, 1800s style. It really felt out of place on a ship that only circles the Hawaiian Islands. The ship has two main restaurants, Liberty and Skyline. Liberty is decorated like something out of Washington D.C. Skyline is decorated like something you would see in an art deco style building in New York City.
Hopefully the full time residents on the forum can add more insight. Pride of America is likely the only way I would visit HI. The big, blue Pacific and stunning Koolau mountains serve as a dramatic setting for Hawaii's largest city. Catch a glimpse of history by visiting Pearl Harbor and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Here’s a list of general items you’ll need or want for your excursions. – Kalapaki Beach is a nice beach and just a short (approximately 0.5 miles) walk or shuttle ride from the cruise terminal.
The results of this effort are impressive and immediately apparent upon boarding the ship. In addition to a fresh paint job in patriotic colors, the interior resembles that of a five-star resort. Our gift shops onboard carry everything you’ll need for fun in the sun. Shop from a variety of souvenirs, cosmetics, clothing, snacks and sundry items.

NCL's Pride of America is absolutely the best way to see Hawaii. Fly in a few days early to get adjusted to the time zone and do some sightseeing. You're in port every day (2 days overnight to partake in evening activities like luaus or early morning activities like a bike ride down a volcano). Norwegian Cruise Line's 7 day Hawaii cruises have about 100 hours of time in port.
Several cruise lines, including Holland America, Princess Cruises, and Viking Cruises, call on ports in Hawaii, with many of them traveling to or from the United States or Canada. Norwegian Cruise Line is the only company that sails exclusively between Oahu and neighboring Hawaiian islands. The Pride of America, a United States-themed ship, makes stops in Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island before returning to Honolulu, a perfect home base for visiting Waikiki Beach and Pearl Harbor.
And once we reached our destination and were heading back to the states, those were the longest six days of my life. But that’s a circle cruise … I am imagine a one-way and then fly back/there or whatever would be different. The Pride of America offers plenty of restaurants and lounges to enjoy throughout the one-week itinerary.
• Youth activities - Infants and toddlers can be enrolled in the Guppies program, kids ages three - 12 will enjoy Splash Academy and teens can hang out in the Entourage Teen Club. There are bubblegum hues in Pink's Champagne Bar, for instance, and a riot of vivid bead-inspired colors in the Mardi Gras Cabaret Lounge & Nightclub. There are two pools, multiple hot tubs and lots of appealing outside deck space—including the Aloha Lanai Bar aft on deck 11—ideal for sail-away cocktails at sunset. New – we’ve compiled a detailed list of what to see and do on a cruise at each Hawaiian port. For more insight into the cruise experience, check out our Pride of America Hawaii cruise video. So, those were all kind of first-world problems, but still, when you’re paying for a good experience and not getting it, it’s disappointing.
